When the shop replaces your car door do they replace the speakers too?

I'm a total car idiot and don't want to call the shop with a stupid question. I recently got into an accident and needed to get a door replaced - the door was brand new but does the door come with the speakers or not? In other words, did they just slap on the new doors (with speakers) or is it customary to remove the speakers from my old door and put them in my new door? I'm not assuming foul play at all but I forgot to tell them that I upgraded my in-door speakers.

Do you have the car back? Can you not just look in the door to see if the speakers are stock or aftermarket, it should be obvious just by looking.

Just called the shop and they're looking into it... I really hope they didn't trash my door yet - my speakers cost $300!

well, if they did, then they would owe you $300.00

They are supposed to put it back how they got it, minus the accident damage. If they got the car with your upgraded speakers, then they should put them back in as well. When you buy a door from a manufacturer, speakers dont come with it. Its just a gutted door shell, no glass, interior, or speakers.

If you didn't tell them that there were non-stock speakers in the door, then I'd bet they just swap the whole door. They'd have no reason to expect anything different was inside it...

My b/f says this is pretty much correct.
Unless the door was so badly damaged that the speakers were crushed and not easily removable. Was the door frame bent, or just the sheet metal dented.... b/f says that a lot of times, if the door still aligns properly, they will just give it a new 'skin'.

In anycase, you should give them a call. The door might have gone to the junkyard already, but the body shop really doesnt have much use for ONE speaker.

Thanks for asking your bf! The door was crushed on the outside (and wouldn't open) but looked fine on the inside. I'm pretty sure they changed the whole thing because my old door had a crack in the plastic inside (I kicked it open once when I was tired and.. yeah, I'm an idiot) and the new door is pristine.

The repair shops going to call me back soon - they're good guys and I'm sure they'll rectify the situation if they did forget to swap the speakers.
