When the mods delete someone...

...why do they remove all traces of them from the forums?

For example, Rastro just got nixed from the forums for obvious reasons, but all of his post and threads are deleted as well.

Wouldn't the rest of us on the forums do well to see his threads and learn from his mistakes? Plus it leaves gaps in the conversations of threads he posted in.

Is this a "feature" in FT4 that can't be worked around?

This was discussed over in FI a while ago. Yes, there is a feature in FT4 that allows mods to hide all of the posts from a given user.

It's true this screws up the continuity of threads, but I think it was implemented so mods wouldn't have to go into a whole bunch of threads and edit out the offending remarks individually.

In general if you are being a blatant troll or an overbearing d!ck you can get yourself banned. If you are really bad then you get deleted.

While on this subject of banning,

do AT mods go to lengths to record info like IP addresses to make sure this dumba$$es don't just restart another account under different info?

I believe IP or host mask banning is done. For a little while my eMail address domain was banned. Mine is agtechie.com... AT had *techie.com domains banned... quick edit and my eMail domain was once again allowed ^_^
