What on earth does that mean? What's an "artificial" flavor, or for that matter, what makes a flavor "natural" other than it's naturally there?

I always thought this was such a strange thing to see on food labels under the ingredients list...

I always assumed artificial flavors were just some chemical cooked up in a lab that tastes like some other real food, and then added to whatever food or beverage.

And I think Natural flavors come from real foods. Such as actual vanilla bean to flavor ice cream, or real apples used to make juice.

That's how I would interpret it, though I could be wrong. I could check the google link above, but I am too lazy and I am satisfied with my own definitions, lol.

natural would be actual the juice from a fruit or vegetable as opposed to chemicals mixed together that happen to mimic a fruits flavor
