I think this is why it's keeping it from going live (some of those people happen to be senators, and representatives). I personally dont want an ad put in the middle of any email I sent, not only because it's intrusive, but because it leaves the possibility that emails can be scanned, even if they say they are not.

Does Gmail support automatic forwarding and POP3 access?
Not at the moment, but Google believes in helping people access information whenever and however they want to do so. In the future you will be able to access Gmail messages from non-Gmail accounts for free or at a nominal fee.
