It won't because:

1. It's harder to produce
2. It's not in Mass production.
3. The larger companies are going to focus on Blue

So while single layer is 40 cents dual layer remains at $10.

As I said above, there is no DL standard for -R, just +R. IMO, -R is on the way out. The only DVD players that seem to have trouble with +R discs nowadays are older, cheaper ones... Anyhow, with book typing being very common now, there is even less reason to buy -R.

The NEC ND3500 costs under 60 Euros in a lot of places here. Got one at home too.

Didn't buy dual layer DVDs for it though, due to them being so much more expensive than 8x single layer Memorex DVD+Rs. Bought 100 of those for 30 Euros instead. No failed burns so far, so quite happy with em.

Actually they're already down to 8 single, or 6.85ea if you buy in bulk. Every insider industry rag has announced it's all because of slow ramp up, but they'll start full production around now and should begin market flooding late summer early fall of this year, cutting prices in half at a minimum. Next Christmas I'd be amazed if they were much over $3 a piece
