I have always been curious as to whether there is an appropriate/professional way of standing and speaking to somebody face to face.

Do you put your hands on your hips? Do you just have them hang on your side? Do you clasp them behind your back? Advice?

Thanks!

I tend to put them at my sides, sometimes in one in a pocket and sometimes crossed. Granted, these are people I know so its less formal.

In a professional setting, I usually point my left hand straight out and up at about a 45º angle, with my fingers tightly together and my palm facing down.

crossed behind your back
or
one hand at your side or in pocket and other gesturing while you talk

Both entail positive body language.

I actually put their hand down my pants and both of mine on their shoulder.
