When someone says "Tell so-and-so I said hi" do you actually pass along the greeting?

I just realized I hardly ever do this, somehow I seem to forget it until after the opportunity to say something passes.

usually if they are a close friend of my SO and mine, then I'll tell her they said hi, but that's about it.

Or, if I want to be an ass and know they hate each other, then I'll do that too, especially at work. "Tom sends his regards." "i hate that effer!"

When I know I will see that person soon (within a few hours) if not I will usually not bother, unless it is a son to a father that don't see each other often or something similar.

I've only had it happen once, the dentist clerk identifying me as one of my mom's sons and telling me to tell my mom that "She is awesome".
