Do you say "this is he/she"? "You're speaking to him/her?" Always confused by this.

The proper response is to go "One moment." in a high pitched voice, wait 10 seconds, and then answer "Hello?" in your deepest voice possible.

Generally, I answer the phone "This is Jim", so I don't run in to that unless they are on a scripted call. If that's the case, I just hang up on them.

Correct response to "male professional":

Just act normal. I usually just reply "Yup, this is me" or "Yup, I'm David".

At work, when I received a call, I usually say "<my name> speaking".

I usually just say "That's me." No one seems to mind.

Depending on if I'm in a good mood or not I'll either say "speaking" or I'll say "If you were somebody who had legitimate business calling me, you'd recognize my voice and know that it was me who answered the phone. So what are you selling?"
