Maxima was a sporty semi luxury car in 2000. At idle with auto trans, the car would vibrate just a bit and these mounts would remove that vibration/shimmy. They were only on the AT cars, not on manual, and yeah, they eventually fail. The kicker is, when they fail, they can take out the car's ECU so not only do they go bad, the computer fries also.
