...buy a new computer? I have a really old k6-233 (other equipment just as old). I don't need a new one desperately, but I wanna know if i should hold out another 3-6 months for the next generation equipment s/a NV20?

I would wait for the next generation. That way you will either be able to get something totally amazing OR get a really good deal on today's products... :)

AMD 760 with DDR RAM, New chips from AMD, new 3d cards from various companies are just a few of the things that will be available in the next 6 months.

If you can wait, then do wait, but if you can't wait then you won't be dissappointed if you buy now...

forget waiting - buy now...otherwise u'll be waiting for ever....
cuz 6 months after u wait, the exactly same scenario crops w/ the potential of newer/faster crap.

plus, excellent equipment for cheap can be had now (ie. duron 600 oc'ed to 900+ w/ cheap overclockable mobo,
pc133 is damn cheap, 7200rpm 30gb hdds are relatively cheap, dvds are cheap, etc.)...

besides, all that new stuff coming out won't have the software to unlock its potential...until later,
when u can upgrade again!...fun cycle- isn't it?

Athlon Classic 700@784
Asus K7M
128MB PC100 generic
Asus V6600 Geforce SDR @ 150vcore, 200mem (det. 6.49)
Diamond MX300 (vortex 2 reference - EAX&A3D!)
Win98SE

I would hold off until the Rampage, NV20, or Palamino comes out, then jump on it and you will have a sweet system.

Will last your for 10 years

if you have waited this long with your k6-233, then i suggest you get something new now. :)

What every you get will feel amazingly fast compared to your old system. :)

Remember if you buy top of the line equpiment you pay top dollar for it, where as if you stay a step behind get an excelent deal. :)
