Do you breath in and shoot or breath out and shoot?

I'm only asking because of America's Army the game it effects your shooting and I'm trying to get into sniper school :p

Breathe in, exhale a little and hold. Then fire, wait and exhale.

That's what I do.

They say to inhale and then slowly exhale and when the breath is completely gone, slowly squeeze the trigger (you should not actually be breathing when the gun fires). The gun should almost be a surprise when it goes off. That's what I've always been told.

Actually, what i do, and what was taught to me by both my father and my drill instructers is to breath in deeply, exhale, and squeeze the trigger. Do NOT hold your breath, or squeeze the trigger after inhaling, your heart is beating faster after you inhale, and slower after you exhale.

Many years ago when I went to sniper school in the good old US Army we learned BRASS Breath Relax Aim Slack (take up the trigger slack) Squeeze.

Works every time.

When you get to be Zen Master like Jerry Barnhart or Rob Lathem you can breathe normally albiet very controlled while shooting mag after mag as quickly as you can into your target from 15 yards off-handed. This level requires...oh...about 50,000 rounds fired over several years of training and practice. haha

Better get crackin!

Bleep has it, BRASS.

Linky

There's the Army field manual for pistols. Works the same on rifles. Folks who went through USMC said the same thing.

Not that I thought Bleep was wrong, just following up on what I said I'd do :)
