When searching on a site...

Is it best to have the search form in the top right, or doesn't it really matter?

(a question about web design and layout)

Top, right side is good but another common spot is in the index near the top or the bottom. Wherever it is, it shouldn't look like it was just put there as an afterthought, it should flow with the design. Usually, there will be a place where it looks like it belongs and that's where it should be.

I never use "insite" searches. I usally just use google. If I dont find the info on the page within 15-30 sec, I go to a differnt site.

Hmm 4 replies and 3 votes. Someone is a slacker! :brokenheart:

I notice that these forums has the search on the left...

I had my site critiqued a few months ago and I'm working on a redesign now, and for some reason I got a lot of replies saying I should have the search in the top right because that is the most natural for visitors. 😛
