What he said. Also check your mouse properties and make sure it's set to scroll x lines at a time and not "One screen at a time"

i tried smooth scrolling on and off. nothing.

in my mouse properties, i don't have a "scroll x number of lines" option.

the only thing i've changed lately is update my Windows XP critical updates....which included a patch for IE 6

I re-read your original post and I misunderstood you...sorry. The "scroll x number of lines" pertains to the wheel and not clicking in the scroll bar. I'll dig around for a bit and see if I can figure out why IE is acting goofy on you.

My laptop started doing this after I installed the latest windows updates... It has been doing it for a couple days now, and it is really annoying.
