when renewing technet do you get additional new keys?

Nope, not unless you upgrade to a higher version ie from standard (2keys) to pro(5 keys)

No, except for new products and membership upgrade as stated above.

When it says that keys don't expire, does that mean you can reinstall or do completely new hardware configuration install after your current subscription expires?

Or does it just mean keys activated and installed before subscription ends will continue to allow new updates from Microsoft or Windows?

Yes to the second question. With regard to the first, each key has a finite number of activations. AFAIK, that is independent of your subscription status.

The year on the box doesn't matter. Technet standard doesn't have any dvd's that gets sent out. I am pretty certain the box would only contain a activation code to activate a 1 year subscription to technet. All software on a standard subscription needs to be downloaded. The subscription is for 1 year from the date that you pay.

Thanks.

Is Microsoft Technet Standard 2010 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER) the current release, or is there a 2011 or 2012 box that is more up to date? And does it matter (is 1 year subscription good for 1 year from activation, and not dependent upon calendar year it was actually produced)?

Actually, I've found you can repeatedly reactivate keys from Technet even after your subscription has expired. (I let my sub. expire a few months ago due to a major move we did. Just didn't need to spend any extra $$ for several months.)

I've got one Technet Win 7 key I've activated over a dozen times on my bench/test computer, due to me doing numerous hardware changes and reformatting the hard drive.....and this includes two recent reactivations in the last month as I reassembled the computer in two different configurations, selling the old parts off as I replaced them.

Remember, Technet keys are retail keys, not OEM-type keys.
