When playing single player games...

What difficulty do you usually set it at?

I typically set it at medium, that way the game won't be TOO short.

Easiest, to start with, because I'm not good at single player FPS games in general. For games like Civ4, I start easy and work my way up.

Medium. I hate plowing through a level with no regard to my lifee but I also dont like spending 30 minutes trying to kill one group of enemies because I need to avoid damage

Depends on the game. If I have played stuff in the series before, I'll start off on mediium and higher, but if I've never played a game in the series, I would probably set it to easy just to get a feel for playing the game.

Hardest, with the exception of games like Doom, where "Hardest" makes monsters respawn from nothing, your life drop continuously for no reason, and expect you to know all the game mechanics and layouts beforehand.

So generally, I start on Hardest - if I notice weird sh*t like that happening, back down to Hard.

Medium or Hard....never hardest (i lose my cool too often....new controller for PS2 once a month)

i play at the hardest setting, and if its too hard and im about to throw the keyboard out the window, (which has actually happened, but thats another story) i turn the hardness down.
