When people say PCI-X instead of PCI-E

Not as much as when my grandfather, that used to work for Big Blue, says serial connection when he means USB.

It's annoying because PCI-E (or PCIe, PCI Express) is different from the PCI-X slots on server boards. If PCI-X didn't exist and "PCI-X" was just a mistyping of PCI-E then I'd let it slide (and figure the typer didn't care or is too young to notice typos).

Yes, because there is a PCI-X interface and it's not like PCIe and confusing the two could be an issue if you manage to be an idiot and buy the wrong components.
And if you're stupid enough to confuse the two, you're likely to be close to being stupid enough to buy the wrong kind of card.

And the S in USB stands for....? 😛

Yeah, I know that PCI-X isn't the same as the PCI-E, that's why it annoys me...
I also hate people that try to tell me computer related news (cause people know I like computer stuff), but they tell me about it a week/month after I hear about it.. (like Apple+Intel stuff)

Not really...

If I'm in a thread and someone uses PCI-X as a term I correct them, but I don't get annoyed... is that what you mean?

It bothers me more when someone uses the term input and output interchangably... makes audio problems irritating to understand what they're trying to do.

It annoys me somewhat, but what it really drives home is that PCI-Express is a terrible name for this technology, especially since pci-x already existed. Furthermore, adding 'express' to a product name usually makes me think of the a reduced version of that product for the "person with the on the go lifestyle", similar to "lite", "SE", "value", and "diet"...

Kinda like people on the west coast refer to ecstacy as "E", while on the east coast, the same drug is known as "X"

Yeah, I know... No kidding... My Uncle always asks questions like "I guess the new PS3 is going to be 300 times faster than a PC according to Sony" Ahhh.... Like I care about the PR BS? Of course, I have to be kind and tell him "Thanks for the heads up" while mumbling to myself "You are 1 month late and your information is majorly incorrect".

A better question is what do the U and B stand for.
