When you order online, which is better...5 stars with very few reviews, or 4 stars with hundreds of reviews with like 80% rating item with 5 stars.

Hmm, I thought I attached a poll, but it's not showing???

Edit: NewEgg in particular. Doesn't matter WHAT hardware you are ordering.

Your hypothetical choice is meaningless. Ask about the specific vendors in question?

Are you asking about Newegg's reputation or about customer ratings of parts they sell?

I think he's talking about hardware bought from an e-tailer. If I'm right, I'd say both are useless alone. Read the reviews themselves and it'll tell you a lot about the hardware and it's faults. I've seen people give OEM Hard Drives 1 eggs for not including cords and giving Motherboards 1 egg for not having raid, even if they're advertised to not have it. People also look to be in the habit of giving things 5 eggs for working on the first day. Your safest bet would be to read as many reviews as you can digest, starting with the 1 egg category, and compare faults between products. Newegg (or other e-tailer) reviews are a great way to find shit-luck incompatibilities that are flat-out deal-breakers.

Happy shopping, CDC Mail Guy!

The customer ratings. NewEgg's reputation is 100% IMO.
