When networking, if one computer is using XP do all have to use it as well?

I'm having trouble getting a steady connection to the internet through a hub connected to a host computer. The client is using XP, but the host has ME. Does the host HAVE to be XP if a client is XP?

No a host doesnt have to XP or any other OS for that matter, if a client is XP.
