sell/get rid of as much as possible
vs
only get rid of the stuff you don't need

I am selling pretty much everything. I don't feel like moving all this stuff. My furniture is getting old and beat up so I am just going to toss it and buy new when I get settled in. TV, surround sound and other electronics are already gone. I am debating about my computer. The only thing it needs is an upgraded CPU, but I am tempted to sell it then just build a better faster rig in the near future.

Better as in cheaper? Obviously it's cheaper to keep almost everything and do a little spring cleaning while you're at it.

Depends on how far you are moving. If you are moving to another country and crossing an ocean, it might be cheaper to sell most of your stuff and buy it again than to ship it.

If you're moving 2 miles across a small town, keep your stuff.

Get rid of the "worthless" stuff. Sell it, give it away, trash it, whatever.

We're days away from our sixth move in six years..I guess it all depends on how far you're moving, and if you can afford to replace stuff. Personally, I don't have the money to replace my (inexpensive HTIB) HT setup..my computer, etc..so it's coming along. However, we have unloaded a /lot/ of stuff..

Since you have to pack everything anyway, you might as well get rid of what you don't need. Less stuff is always good. :)

expensive stuff is already gone except my computer. I had someone offer me $500 for it, and I am really considering it. I have been looking for a reason to rebuild.
