Yeah, God forbid the cars not last longer than 11,11, and 21 years without breaking.

While I agree with the spirit of your post, IMHO any car that doesn't last > 20 years (barring major accident) is a pretty crappy one.
That makes most cars pretty crappy, then.

Oh, and by "lasting" that long, you can't possibly mean nothing has ever broken....I doubt that there's a car that's ever been built and driven daily that didn't break SOMETHING in 20 years.

I worked for Nissan for 10 years and Ford for 12 and worked military commercial vehicles for 8. They all break, and I was rarely out of work for any one day working on any one them. I loved working on Nissan, but they abandoned old school owners and stopped supporting them with parts. I would never buy one of their cars again.

BTW Escort is largely a Japanese product.

Over 20 years any vehicle is going to need thousands of dollars of repairs. A hose here, a leaky gasket there, brakes, timing belts, serpentine belts, starters, alternators. Over 20 years a car is going to need stuff like that. Doing car maintenance is completely normal.
