On the afternoon of 10/27 I went to some big box store and was still in my car when someone pulled into the spot next to mine and BAM! Their door slammed into mine. Small scrape plus two dents. I've already talked to their insurance company and I'm taking it in to a body shop on Monday for an estimate.

Not to be outdone, sometime during 10/30 my wife was at work and someone backed into her car. Lots of red paint left on it and a huge dent. A police officer left his card under her wipers. He said the police report will be available in a couple days, so I'm guessing it wasn't an anonymous hit/run.

I'm glad we don't have the new car yet.

Damn man you need some "rubber baby buggy bumpers"...

That sucks for sure...D: (stupid people)

Man that's some luck. Leave it to a woman to 1-up you no matter the subject lol. At least the parties responsible for each are owning up to it.

Shitty luck. But on the upside, at least in both incidents the culprits were man enough to stick around and resolve the situation.

This is why I'm apprehensive about ever owning a nice new car. I know I could take care of it but other people worry me.

Don't know about my wife's situation or who called the police, but with mine I was still in the car, so no way they were gonna get away with it... though the woman responsible was very sincere about it.

What sucks is that my wife's car was absolutely flawless. Will something like this end up in Carfax or something? There's a police report on it.

Even if it doesn't you should tell a prospective buyer about the damage.

It's not a big issue if it does IMO. You'll end up with a thin coat of plastic and new paint on the door so not a big deal. A little door-ding fix isn't like an accident while moving where welds can be broke etc. I'd just keep a pic of the damage around so you can show a potential buyer what the damage was that had to be fixed.
