Apparently she's getting fired. I don't, as a rule, pay much attention to office politics. It just seems like a bad idea to get involved. But she'd asked me a question and then mentioned that I'd probably heard the gossip that her days were numbered. I said, "Oh" "Why are your days numbered?" She muttered "I'm incompetent" and ran back to her office crying.

I knew I should just gone with my standard non-commital nod.

Tell her that acceptance is the first step on the road to recovery.

Then tell her to stop crying like a wimp, because nobody wants to be an incompetant wimp.

She brought it up, right? Grr... I hate that "let's talk about <this>" "um, okay. <question>" "<hateful feelings-hurt answer> HOW COULD YOU BRING THAT UP!! YOU JERK"

if she's crying in the office, of course she's incompetant.

if you're getting fired, you stand up and take it like a professional. you don't turn on the waterworks in the office.

I always grab my stapler and burn the place down...

I said, "Oh" "Why are your days numbered?" She muttered "I'm incompetent". To which I replied, "Oh, well it's probably for the best then. Have a nice day." 😛

agreed.

I love it when my incompetant coworkers get fired. it means less work for me (re: less time spent correcting their mistakes), especially when they hire my competant and over-qualified friends to replace them 🙂

I really have no idea if she was incompetent or not. She's a teacher and pretty bad with computers, a fairly nice old lady though. She said before I left "I'm not a data person, I'm a kid person." I just did my non-commital nod. I learned my lesson.
