It is definitely not longhorn. XP 64 is just a 64 bit version of XP. Longhorn is an entirely new version of windows.

Holy crap man!!
You have mucho Juavos starting a thread like this!
So many others have already gotten into the discussion other places, I worry this might just start a flame war.

Simple answer:
NO ONE knows for sure.

Complex answer:
Many people are speculating. Just look around the web (Google) and you'll find a ton of folks talking about it. Many seem like goobers to me, but heck, goobers need a place to let loose too.

(Sorry for my english and spanish)

Might as well give him a ballpark.

It is supposed to come out sometime in the first half of this year.

Beta is out now...I'm waiting for mine to arrive. I'm curious to see what the difference really is.

Waiting?

You could just download it and expedite your suffering. :p

Let me spare you the suspense....the biggest difference is hours of trying in vain to find x64 drivers for your hardware. :disgust:

So far.... I recall similar things when I beta'd 98 but this seems worse this time around.

The 98 beta could run a good number of devices with the 95 drivers.

Windows XP 64 bit requires "new" drivers (recompiled for the 64 bit arch.).

If you want a fair comparison think early windows 95 beta days

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is due first 1/2 of this year (x64 indicates support for 64bit extensions). The true 64 bit version for the Itanium has been cancelled.
