Several times I have read about forum members who get a ?verifying dmi pool data? error message, and then the computer hangs. However don?t know what causes error and how to fix it. Therefore I wonder:

1. Under what circumstances does this error occur?

2. How should the problem be fixed?

I can also add that I don?t have this error my self. I am just curious so I can help other people that encounter this (often hard to fix) problem.

this is quoted from AndyHui:

Verifying DMI Pool Data is the result of Plug + Play resource assignment differences between the OS and the BIOS. Usually what happens is the BIOS will assign your peripherals a set of resources, ie IRQs, that sort of thing, but these assignments are different to those given by a Plug+Play OS such as Win9x or Win2K....

ie your video card is assigned to IRQ11 in the BIOS, but Windows will assign it to IRQ9.

The BIOS will see that the OS set it different to what it had on the previous boot, and then go about Verifying Desktop Management Interface Data to make sure everything is OK.

Normally, you can get rid of the message by resetting configuration data in the BIOS. It should be in the peripheral section for AWARD 4.51 BIOSes.
If that doesn't work, switch Plug+Play OS to OFF in the BIOS.
