I am curious when you guys think that the United States will collapse and food shortages will take place and violance and starvation that kills millions?

Obviously, the country is on a unsustainable path for financial suicide.

This isn't a troll, just jenuinly courious what Americans think here.

List any major countries/regional powers that collapsed without military intervention

It has already collapsed and is just running on fumes basically. It is bankrupt - it's degenerated populations have been kept from each others throats by money and abundant creature comforts. As both dry up (soon) the cracks will show up big time. Get out of the big cities.

I don't think NK Is a major power, but it's still there.

USSR is still there, it just has a more pleasant face and better dressed puppets

We are certainly fractured. That which continues to bond us is civility and economy. Both are on shorter supply these days and there is a tipping point, I just don?t know when or why.

Perhaps very soon if the government bubble pops. That would be a tragedy. Maybe they can delay this bubble from bursting. Maybe they can even deleverage it slowly and without pain. I don?t see how that?ll be possible, given their only attempts are to increase the size of this bubble indefinitely. Escaping without harm from fake wealth is a tricky prospect.

Longer term forecast? Can't give you a date for this either. Overpopulation creating an oppressive demand for resources may or may not be within our lifetimes. Growth cannot be infinite within a finite space and yet here we are with our grand ponzi schemes that depend on infinite growth. One day it will crash down hard.

The long term problem is not limited to our nation. If you thought 6 billion consumed and polluted the planet, imagine what 15 billion would do. Not sustainable.

The USSR collapsed though, it is no longer what it was in any real form other than Russia.

So long as nothing essential to avoid your collapse is needed that exists soley outside our borders we are immune. We can use shiny rocks as currency...
We could declare all debt forgiven and start over... collapse is possible where what you need to live is in someone else's hands... another nation as it were.

I was going to write:

I don't know if it will be apocalyptic like that. Rather, I see a gradual transformation into third world nationhood complete with abject poverty and starvation for many of the people, but I don't think it will be a sudden cataclysmic collapse.

But as I started thinking about it some, I'm not convinced that that is correct and that it won't be apocalyptic at some point.

The price of oil has risen as the value of the dollar has fallen. Look at the price of gold. If we keep printing money like we are now the value of a dollar will continue to decrease and oil prices will continue to rise when priced in dollars. There is a point where no country will buy our bonds because the money used to repay the loans will be worthless or nearly so. We will become a 3rd world country if we don't slow down all the entitlement spending. I read an article a few weeks ago in Kiplinger's Personal Finance that said "The U.S. government is adding to the federal debt at a rate of nearly $5.5 billion per day." That is madness and has to stop.

A "when is the US apocalypse going to happen?" thread is posted, next thread to look for is "when is Obama, congress, et al is going to be assassinated, overturned by a military junta or grass root arm rebellion going to happen?".

this post shows a great depth of misunderstanding of the topics involved, or about on par for P&N. OFC by atot standards this would pass as legitimate insight.

This is my prediction:

The Government will spend and spend some more. We will be broke... it will drive the uneducated, lazy, morally corrupt individuals. The term hard worker will be lost, if not, the definition will surely change.

Illegal immigration will get to a boiling point, a point to where we can not sustain them. Race riots will occur and a war will take place. We will have not only another Civil war but a world war (China & AQ) at the same time.

The civil war will occur between Socialist and the Constitutionalists, aka left/right.

All within the next 100-150 years.
