Read that Intel was going to do a Klamath/CuMine type thing and release a 'better' P4 very soon. i.e. an increased pin P4 that will not fit current P4 mobo's. Is this going to happen still?

its called the northwood and i think its suppose to be Q3 or 4....and along with it i believe there will be a totally different platform...so it will enable use of sdram adn ddram instead of rdram.

I would keep your eyes on the lookout in August-September. The actual date heavily is set by the Intel marketing people themselves. Those chips have already been sent to confidential selected people for testing and the final silicon should appear in Q3 or at the latest Q4 this year. You can be sure the first siting of such chips will be in Japan. As that is in asia visit www.ocworkbench.com for the latest news tailored to the Asian sector.

DDR_SDRAM chipset support from Intel is due Q1 2001 for the P4, while SDRAM support is due late Q3/early Q4.

When the 'Northwood' P4 comes out it will be on mPGA Socket478 rather then the current 423pin socket of today's P4. It will be introduced with 512KB L2 cache on a 0.13 micron process, and I believe though I'm not sure that it is supposed to debute at 2GHz.

Thanks, Rand. That's information that is useful! VERY useful! I've copied it and placed it in my Computer Learning folder.
