the key to a better mobile is not amd speed rating but the wattage a 35 watt 2400 will easily oc to 2.3 ghz "enough for any chore at hand" the lower the wattage the higher the quality of the core when they sell xp3200 cpus for 200 and i get a 70 dollar mobile and easily oc it to way faster speeds than the 3200 it makes me wonder. look for the stepping and wattage of any barton cpu the lower the wattage the less power it takes to do the same work.
have fun

i'm not ocing dude, i'm getting it for my laptop. also, you cant overclock a laptop. i'm trying to get more speed out of my system, and upgrading the cpu will be my 1st and cheapest step.

there are utilities that allow dynamic ocing and laptops support this thats the whole idea of power nowyou can most likely set up the initial values for the cpu any way you want.sorry i had it wrong.

kind of tricky to set up but seems to work i have my cpu to range between 1900 and 2300 mhz it works fine so far and also has a cool feture that automaticly ramps back the fsb is things get too hot. like i said that laptop is designed with clock speed adjustments on the fly capability. of course amd/inetl wont tell you that. plug away and you can unlock that puppy.

thanks, but i dont thnk i can possibly overclock my hp motherboard in my laptop, since most vendors despise overclocking, its a feature they dont and wont allow occuring in their systems.

Even if you can, Overclocking in a laptop is a BIG no no. The componants are already maxxed out heatwise, and pushing them further could mean a dead chip somewhere.

You can OC the processor to whatever speed you want by using the wire socket mod, which is easy to do and can be found by googling for it. As far as heat goes, a 35 watt mobile should produce less heat than your old one to begin with, so you do have some room to play with even in a laptop. Perhaps to be safe only up the voltage to 1.45v(which is what your old mobile should have been) and don't OC past what it will do on that, of course checking temps as you do this.
