I did it last month because I decided to train alongside my kids for hockey. That was a bad idea. I skate full out all the time but the muscles used to sprint are very different. I couldn't move for a week. They say to ease into any new exercise you do, but who would've thunk a few 40-yd dashes would kill.

When I'm actively working out I push myself to run flat out on the treadmill (around 9 mph) for short bursts.

Right now I am the definition of sloth and haven't worked out since spring.

I probably look like one of these while running, the accordion effect on the second is mesmerizing.

Your dog could run >55MPH? The math on ~270ish yards(since you then sprinted) and 10 seconds is 57mph I think. Your dog might actually be a cheetah, might want to check at the vet.

I knew I was going to get Math-checked in here. My dog was fast. I couldn't outpaced her on a mountain bike.

Oddly enough, not that long ago. Two of my nephews were saying they could run a track (400m I think?) in less than a minute and my dad did not believe them. Long story short we drove to a nearby track so they can prove him and since I was with them I ran too for shits and giggles to see how I'd fair out. To my surprise I actually outran both of them and we all got a bit under 1 minute. It was probably my first time running like that since I was in school. I did not figure I would outrun them given how old I'm getting. I've always been a short distance runner though. I can do decent burst speed but only for a short distance. Never been a marathon or cross country runner.

Under a minute is pretty good for coming off the street!

Hunting/pest control last year. Shot a coyote on a buddies farm and thought he was only wounded i thought i had missplaced the shot as he was running at the time and i thought i saw him keep running. I ran full tilt the 200 meters to where he was when i shot him to start tracking and put him out of his misery. Turns out i had not misplaced the shot and he dropped less than 5 feet from where i shot him, hit him right in the boiler destroyed both lungs instantly.

But man i hadnt run that hard in probably 20 years, and carrying a rifle and 40lbs pack to boot.
