I typically check mine every annualy. A buddy of mine recently checked and his found numerous errors. Luckly, he had them changed before they became a problem. Just a friendly reminder.

You can get one for free if you are denied credit by a bank or cc company. Otherwise, you can get them for a small fee directly from experian, equafax or transunion.. Those are the three major credit agencies.

Experian has a free 30 day on line credit report. You have to give a credit card but if you cancel in 30 days no charge. It even allows you to dispute incorrect items. Its well worth the time to check your score and report.

Month or two ago when there was a thread in Hot Deals about free credit reports. My college student, unemployed ass had a 736.

Oh, I guess that's just my rating. I haven't actually looked at the report, but, judging by the rating, there's probably nothing too bad on there.

I got one a few weeks ago after I was denied a Discover Platinum card.
Everything seems in order, but I guess I have been switching acrds for low APRs too much lately.

One thing that did annoy me was the amount of credit checks run on me without my knowledge and permission, all those lendors and CC companies who send you all that junk mail are running credit checks on you constantly. I had my credit checked by Capital One, Chase and Upland Mortgage every 2 months for the past year! I have nothing to do with those companies, but I get junk mail from them constantly.......how can they check your credit without your permission? That really pisses me off. :|
