Im not real impressed with R520 and want to know when the R580's will be arriving because I am looking at building my dream machine early next year and figure that will be close to the next gen video chips.

I know the R580 taped out the first round and see the R520 as a short lived chip they want to just sell off on supply before releasing the R580. Will we possibly see the R580 before X-mas if its already taped out weeks ago?

How about the R600 or the rumored dual core chip? 520R I think its called?

What is coming in 4 months from nvidia? I hope more than just a turbo model.

I know its hard to speculate on what is coming next I am just really looking for what are the proposed release dates for the next gen of chips.

R580 will probably be launched early next year, maybe Feb-Mar time frame.

G72 is probably the 7600 series (G71 is 7800 non ultra). So we wont be getting anything major (besides the 512MB GTX) from Nvidia in the high end bracket.

Thanks.

R580 Q1 2006.
No Info on Next gen NVIDIA. Do we think it will also be Q1 2006? Nvidia moving to 90nm? 65nm?

I will be putting $400 aside for the card. Might get me to $430.00

You'll probably need more than $430.00 for the high-end cards of the R580 generation, such as the X2800 XT, for example (let's presume for a moment that X2800 XT would be the name, I'm just getting it out of my mind, it's not a fact).

If we consider right now that the X1800 XT 512 MB version will cost $549.00, and they might even release a more powerful version later, as ATi usually tend to do, and might as well revise their reference cooling method for R520's XT part. Such as a very possible X1850 XT (or even XT PE again). Which would cost perhaps even more.

But that's only if you personally plan on getting the better high-end part of the next generation. Mind you.

grab a subpar videocard like a 6600GT or 800GT for now and wait for DX10 ^___^ not too many sleeps to go now.

Injoy life doing other things like watching movies and some of the awsome TV shows out at the moment .. while you wait. Just an idea though.

If you like to mod .. grab a 6800 and unlock it or a X800Pro and do the same
you can get these for a nice price's but not as nice as a 6600 or 800GT
