As a kid I used to do cross country skiing in wisconsin.
I never did downhill skiing.

Last year in Feburary, a month before my 36th birthday I went with my brother and his friends on their annual ski trip at "Chestnut Mountain"

I only spent half a day on the slopes, and stuck to the easy/kid level stuff, but I had a blast and didn't injure myself.

so 33 is fine, Also, if you are a big fat guy like me, you just need to be cautious so you don't break your wrists.
Actually knowing how to fall is crucial for anyone, because you will. Ideally you'll be able to do a sharp turn that you'll lean too far into, which will dump a lot of speed and put you on your side relatively softly.

Agreed!

Also best to probably go during the peak of the season, before most of the snow has thawed and refrozen a bunch of times and iced over.

Yeah, that rock salt looking stuff is rough. Peak season can be rough too, if they're so busy that they can't or don't want to shut down the runs for grooming. If I had to pick between surprise moguls and surprise buttsex, it would be a difficult decision. Good goggles that don't fog help a lot with avoiding those, but spotting white lumps on a white sheet can still be difficult.

I snowboard 8-9 times a year. There are a surprising amount of people skiing and snowboarding in their 60s and 70s. I learned at age 27. If you're in decent shape it's literally never too late to learn.

You will not stick out on the beginner's run if it is your first time. Half the people are flailing around.
