That the dog survived this long despite your efforts to quietly kill it is actually kind of amazing. Maybe God is keeping it alive as a reminder that you are an asshole.

No one likes taking care of a sick, old dog. He is just honest about it. What an asshole *rolleyes*. Cause if you were unable to pawn off the responsibility on someone else like you probably would try to do, you'd figure out that it isn't a whole lot of fun. He is still taking care of it anyway, just complaining. What a terrible person for not enjoying cleaning up pee/poo all the time. Cause we all know that cleaning up pee/poo is enjoyable. Are you some kinda moron?

You should cut his nails though. They are too long. Poor little guy is pretty damn cute. I can see why the wife is having a hard time giving him up even if weiner dogs are a pain the ass, especially ones at the end of their lives. Good job keeping it at a healthy weight, so many people overfeed their dogs then pass judgement on others. Keeping your dog overweight is really, really bad for them.

Again, the point I am making is that he is grudgingly caring for the dog because he can't confront his wife while quietly trying to kill it. It's not a normal taking-care-of-the-old-dog situation.

OP, I don't know, but I suspect your wife cancelled, at least in part, because you didn't want to incur the expense.

For later reference, my wife and I put put about 75% of my monthly salary into savings.

We were putting 100% of my monthly income into savings. But my wife left her job, so we had to start taking money out of my pay check to pay bills with.

A few days ago I offered to buy my wife a new SUV and pay cash for it. But she wants to keep her old one and keep the money in the bank.

And? What is your point?

We all do stuff we do not like doing. You think I like paying taxes so people can draw welfare?

If it cost $600 to fix your dog up, but you can buy the same looking dog for $400, then it is time to put it down.

We put our dog down almost 2 years ago. She was in bad shape, skin and bones, she could hardly get up on her own, she would fall down and then couldn't get up, she had a big gaping wound on her leg that wouldn't heal. It got to a point where we just had to do what was best for her and have her put to sleep. She was 12 years old.

Prior to that I put down 2 cats that both lived long lives with us. None of them were easy decisions to make but ultimately it was what was best for them. I cried for all 3 of them. I'm sure I'll cry when our current cats go too.
