When is it time for DirectX 8 ????

Now that Microsoft has released DirectX 8.0a is it ok to start using it. I downloaded it last week and it has been sat on my hard drive staring at me ever since, is it really that bad? What is the real world performance like? I know it would probably take a reinstall to get rid of it so I really want to know what people think. How many of you are using it?

I'm using it.. and I don't have any problem with it.. and MW4 requires it, so I have no choice. I'm running it on Win98SE and V3-3000.
 
I'm also using it. I'm running Windows 2000 Pro and Windows 98 with a V3 2000.😀

I haven't had any trouble running Unreal Tournament, Diablo II and Baldur's Gate II.
