When your dog dies, when your pickup dies, when your dad dies. And even then only if it is raining.

Edit: Everything I know about being a man was learned from Merle Haggard.

Yup, i've seen this too. A lot of guys think that they would be considered gay or something if they cry. For some weird reason they act like they have to constantly "prove" their masculinity in front of others. Never got it either...

My older bro died of cancer in 2010. I still cry off and on over it. He was a big LotR movie fan and I still bawl like a baby when I hear "Into the West". Things like that are normal.

If you think crying defines your manhood you probably aren't a man. If you need external validation you probably aren't a man.

I don't remember the last time I cried from physical pain but emotional stuff sure. Last time was reading the end of Maus which hit me like a freight train for some reason.

Losing a pet is really tough and even worse when you have to put them down and it's your decision.

Obviously, when family members die it would be hard not to cry about it. Years ago a family that was close to us had a grandchild, a 5 year old boy, die from an injury he received when he ran into a glass window. You've not seen grief until you attend the wake for a child. For some parents there life ends with the death of a child.

Now there are things that make you want to cry even if you don't. Things like walking up to your new car and seeing a dent some ahole put in it.

My thoughts are that it's ok for a guy to cry for inside pain, but not outside pain. If your dog dies or your wife leaves you... it's ok. If you stub your toe or break your arm... not ok.

What about pulling your nose hair with your bare hands? :whiste:

When your first baby is born (first only) and your mom dies. Those 2 times only, any other time means you are gay. Really gay.

I didn't cry when my baby was born, or when I broke my arm as an adult.

That nose hair thing really hurts, too, but I didn't cry during that.

I think that I once cried during a really sappy commercial, though. Go figure.

Last time I cried beyond a tear or two was when I was following my grandfather's casket out of the church. I was fine all through the service, I was fine at the wake (open casket), I was fine until the moment I had to leave the church with him being carried out.

I shed a tear or two during emotional scenes or certain tunes (I honestly tear up when Spock dies in STII).

I just started watching The West Wing on Netflix and I shed a tear when Mrs. Lanningham died. That was the most recent time.

The last time i "really" cried was when i was 14. I don't really like to display my inner emotions. Last week i got into a bad road accident, was dragged along the road at a speed of 60 kph and cut and bruised myself all over. The bleeding was quite intense, but i did not cry. Not a single tear.

However today i was watching a romantic movie that had a sad ending, where the guy kills himself for his girlfriend.(The name of the movie was Aashiqui 2, its a Bollywood movie, look it up if you want to). In a final scene, the girl sits on a beach staring into the horizon thinking about the guy, and that scene+background music had me in tears. I did not weep or howl, but yes my eyes were wet and there was a lump in my throat.

So was this okay? Is it okay to cry to sometimes, or is totally unacceptable for a guy to cry, no matter what the situation is? If i was watching this movie with a girl, would my crying had left a negative impression on her?(Would she think of me as a pussy?)

Whats your opinion?

Didn't watch that movie, but I cried at the end of "Rub ne bana di jodi". Embarrassing part was that I was watching it with my mother-in-law and she teased me for the next whole week

I guess if your mom dies giving birth to your first born baby then you can cry. I think Merle would accept that. It should still probably be raining.
