I wish I had $4k...my budget was $2.5k, but that's all cash-in-hand. I'll be checking various sites (Newegg, ZZF, etc.) at 12:02am.

Just remember, NewEgg is a west coast company, right? I may need to stay up till 3am just to have a chance...

The assumption that NewEgg will sell at midnight is just speculation, right? Or has someone at NewEgg said it will be out at midnight?

any and all times and dates associated with Conroe availability from large e-tailers is pure speculation, but more of the educated guess type

Splurge the extra $10 and get the Asus P5W DH Deluxe (975X) instead of the P5B Deluxe (965X). 975X has better overclocking and CrossFire (it's the motherboard AnandTech uses for Conroe benchmarks). I have one on its way via UPS from Newegg, and I just need to pair it up with a C2D E6600. :)

I'm using a CNPS9500, but since you already have water cooling, use that.

Yea I've tried plenty of watercooling kits and this one is by far the best. Highly recommended. You can pick it up for $149, the setup is a breeze. The radiator, tank and pump is all in one.

I may buy a few cpu's if anyone misses the release. I'm basically sitting infront of my computer with a bag of popcorn refreshing the newegg processors section every few minutes (I feel like such a loser lol.) My girlfriend can't even get me to go out for a ride with her because I don't wanna miss it.

rofl @ ur post, I also feel like a true nerd atm. I'm actually glad that I missed out on a trip to ukraine this summer just so I can get one of these chips at release. I got one during the zzf rush and I'm still watching (still not sure why, zzf had really good prices), even though I doubt any will be in stock at 3.

Never doubt newegg. They really are amazing at what they do. I've ordered over $2k worth of stuff from them the past year and there hasn't been one time where there wasn't a box infront of my door the next day.

Newegg actually had a posting for the X6800 yesterday, but it has since been pulled. The price was $1359.99, and it was listed as being out of stock, with an estimated availability date of 08/04/2006 (which is consistent with estimates that I'm seeing on other sites).

Useful maybe for the guy with $4000 to blow, but I only want an E6600.
