the westinghouse 37 inch 1080p is on for 1000.
both handles as a tv and a monitor very well.
math tells me to get the 37 inch.
but isnt that tooo big for a computer usage?
any thooughts?
im thinking of gettint the 24 inch because the 37 inch uses about 230watts... thats a lot!

The viewing distance is a big issue when it comes to a much bigger size monitor, imo.
You may need to sit much further out which may require some rearrangement of your furniture/desk set-up.
When I switched from 20" to the 2405 (Dell) I placed the 2405 the same exact location where the 2005 display was and I'm still fine as far as viewing distance.

For me, I wouldn't have enough real estate to place a huge LCD on my desk. Like videopho said, I would need to sit further away the larger it gets.

Gaming on a larger monitor would be a problem too. You'll need to stay current on the latest in hardware acceleration to continue to play on your monitor's native resolution. Even on my Dell 2005FPW, native res of 1680x1050, I find myself getting the latest and the greatest (actually, second greatest) to feed it.

Yeah and if you aren't able to push native rez on a 24 or even worse a 37 it's going to look kind of crappy.

a lot of us use the 37" westinghouse for a primary computer monitor. It is not too big.

I sit 2-3 feet away and text is ultra sharp.

If you can set it up nicely at a comfortable distance way I would go with the 37 inch, personally.

I have the Westinghouse 37" LCD. Awesome monitor. I have a relatively deep (3.5') desk, so it's just the right distance.

I have never played a First Person Shooter on a big-screen like that. And those games always tend to make me lean forward and get closer to the screen (it happens subconsciously). I imagine it can get a little disorienting?
