...because currently here, their GSM network is weak, and i'm thinking of switching to TDMA because of it, but i don't want to buy a new phone to find myself using it for only a few months.
They've been saying they were phasing it out from a long time ago. I used to sell AT&T and back when they first launched GSM they said within a year or six months they'd begin to phase out TDMA however, it has been well over two years since that announcement and I've yet to see any phase out of TDMA.
Here in the San Jose, CA area, their GSM network sucks donkey ass. Their TDMA network, on the other hand, is at least usable... I had to give up my spiffy GSM camera phone and go with a cheesy Nokia, but it was worth it because now I have a phone that will at least work.
