Do you have to turn the HSF 1 degree each way or something with the stock thermal compound? the AS5 manual said you had to with AS5, but not sure about stock thermal compound...and i'm asking this for Pyrosity, as i doubt he'll ask anytime soon 😉

The mention of that in the AS5 instructions is probably so the paste spreads evenly across most of the heatspreader. With any kind of thermal grease you apply to something with a heatspreader, it's probably a good idea.

With a stock thermal pad, I don't think it'd be necessary.
 
Never seen that mentioned anywhere else. Wouldn't hurt, but probably wouldn't help much either...
