my friend is having a problem he is trying to install his heatsink everytime he does it it doesnt work, i asked if he got the thermal paste on the core he said yes. i dont know what is wrong before we thought it was the jet 7 fan but when he did with tornado same thing? what could be causing this? i dont know why is would just reboot like that you think it would be heat problem but he has is right on the core he says and hes got a tornado fan on it. so he just has to stay with his stock cooling till we can figure out.

his mobo
he has a thermaltake heatsink.

Fan is on the cpu fan header? Some computers won't boot if no fan is detected on there. Thinks you don't have anything on the cpu.

Stick the jet 7 or the tornado into a free three pin fan connector on the mobo and see if it starts spinning. There are some boards that do not power on or power themselves off when they sense that there's no CPU fan.

can u get a pic of that so i can show him because he doesnt know what that is? sorry about the inconvience.

this i what he sent me
«»±±®¼MatT¼®±±«»: neither the jet or the tornado connect to the mobo
«»±±®¼MatT¼®±±«»: just the senser
«»±±®¼MatT¼®±±«»: it takes the power from the supply

Looks like if you want to use the jet or tornado you have to get an additional case fan to connect to that CPU fan header, basically something to show your mobo there's a fan there. You may want to try going into the BIOS and seeing if there's a way to turn off CPU fan detect.

It's the three pin power connector that you plugged the stock HSF into....

he said no the sensor is on it though

Are the jet and tornado slow spinning fans compared to the stock HSF? Some boards don't turn on if the fan RPM is below a certain threshold.

hes getting all mad and yelling its a torndo lol hes mad at himself i think and hes taking it out on me.
