When in the world are we going to go into Afghanistan and look for Osama Bin Crazy?

We might be going for awhile. It was 52 days between Pearl Harbor and the first offensive by us, and 103 days between Pearl Harbor and the bomb dropping. So if history repeats its gonna be a few more weeks or maybe even a month. Don't want to go in there half a$$ed and lose our chance to get Bin Laden

I don't want anyone doing anything before we are ready. The goal is not to just start throwing bombs down killing innocent folks. Bush and Co. are taking their time planning an effective campaign and garnering international cooperation and support.

Covert ops are tracking him.

Need to get conclusive evidence before we will do something.

If we go off half cocked we will loose the support of the fragile alliance that is being developed against terrorism.

Perhaps Bin Laden will make a mistake and use a satellite phone in which case it will be easy to track him down and send a homing missile up his butt - the Russians used this trick to eliminate a Chechen leader Dzhokhar Dudayev a couple of years ago.

Bin Laden will be found, it just seems it will take some time.

However, it's harder to do go in quickly or effectively when Iran is not cooperating and Pakistan is barely able to avoid a civil war as a result of supporting the U.S.

<< He's not going anywhere, it's a small planet... >>

tell that to all the missing kids in this world.

Eventually he will be caught, I will be happy. and so will the world.

people like him shouldn't exist, they shouldn't be considered human.

Washington is still preparing for what will probably be a very long campaign. This delay is due to several reasons:
First, the Bush administration is still searching world wide for reliable coalition support for its war on terrorism.
Second, the first strike is important because it will shape US relations with the rest of the world, the most important of which is the Middle Eastern nations. It mustn't be hasty so as not to undermine the fragile confidence of allies or fuel wider hatred among Islamic and Arab nations.
Third, the fact that Afghanistan is a land locked country hampers preparation. In terms of logistics, the US must secure land bases for a sustained coalition air strike or provide in-air refueling for carrier based planes. Both of these choices are limited, for reasons I won't get into here.
Fourth (this is my opinion here), I believe that Bush wants to avoid a Clinton style strategy of launching ineffective cruise missiles against "some empty tents" and thus also avoid undermining shacky relations with the Arab and Muslim world.
Remember, it took Washington 6 months to gear up for Operation Desert Storm, and the ramp up for this war may take just as long.

why everyone is thinking that osama is still hiding in afghanistan. My guess is that he left afghanistan on september 11 and now he is probably in egypt or sudan. The reason is that if osama was still in afghanistan, pakistan would never have cooperated with usa.

US military action will be against Afghanistan first to show the seriousness of our stance against harboring nations. But you are correct, Osama Bin Laden probably left on or before the 11th.

Your last comment, about Pakistan, I believe is incorrect. The heads of state of Pakistan want to use the events last week to re-solidify strained relationships between Islamabad and Washington. Musharraf needs to heal this gap that has left his country economically and politically isolated. Whether or not Islamabad believes that Osama was still in Afghanistan is irrelevant to his decisions.

As much as I wanna see justice done... I hope NEVER! That is just an accident waiting to happen.

Sometimes I think everyone (each Nation) should just mind their own business... and leave well enough alone. But, I know this wouldnt' work becuase then there'd be a bunch of butt woopin's in the Middle east where bully countries pester little weak ones. Ugh.

I think everyone should just eat KFC and be happy. :D

>When we are ready...then lookout! Hell is coming...

do you realize that when the U.S. will go in, the Taliban will be defending themselves with American made M16's, Stingers and grenade launchers that was given to them by the CIA in the war agains the ussr. I'm just pointing that out.

I would think that if Bin laden had left Afghanistan they (the Taliban)would announce it - if nothing else to take the heat off them

This is where you take plenty of time to prepare. It is also a psychological burden for the enemy. The British Navy and invasion force sailed very slowly to the Falkland Islands. This allowed all possible diplomatic avenues to be examined and exhausted before putting troops on the ground. The Taliban is already singing a different song. They now hint they will turn in Bin Laden if provided proof of his guilt in the terrorist attacks. That is a major change. Patience pays. Bin Laden has already been attacked. I think by now his assets have been frozen. How is he going to pay his rent? His landlords are the nicest guys either.

I don't agree, Bush wouldn't be using the word SUSPECT when we do.
