I plan on it, bought acreage away from the city but have a lot of work ahead of me so won't happen overnight. Only so much time to work on the build and can only get to it in summer. Kill two birds with one stone, protect myself from inflation by eliminating most of my bills, and get away from the ever increasing crime. I will need to find a different source of income once I do move there though. Some kind of WFH gig or something.
I've put crazy amount of work into this house and still have projects ongoing though, so it's kind of hard to just throw all that away and move but when the new property is ready and I feel time is right I will.
I'm starting to get the feeling you are kicking the can down the road, and I, for one, am disappointed. Why keep upgrading your home when society is crumbling around you as we speak? Crime is nuts, you gotta lock your doors now! Since you stated that us men down here in liberal areas are being forced to use women's bathrooms, I mean that stuff happens fast. It's coming to you sooner than you think. Pretty soon you might be forced to see a woman naked, and we don't want that to happen! You might procreate! So get to it.
Have you done a survey of your land? Started to draw up plans? What is going on here? Why are you even worried about your water meter at your home when you are going to build a fully sustainable shangri-la on your off the grid dream plot? It's like you've done nothing for it and are more focused on your home which is, last time I checked, on the grid. That's bad.
Listen if Twitter can be run in a 2,000 square foot shed, going off the grid can't be that hard. Besides a little clearing, some plumbing, electric and all those greenhouses and chicken coops so you can sustain yourself should be a walk in the park.
When you do it, please livestream and sell subscriptions to watch. I know I'd pony up some money to see it happen, so I can make plans for my apocalyptic escape and bunker too. I need to learn from the best.
