When I walk, my feet point outward...

I'm 25 now and I want to lose about 20 pounds. I ran cross country in high school but I haven't done much since then, so I've been doing a little homework while I'm starting to run again.

I've had a few friends/family members comment that my feet appear to be flat when I stand and when I walk its kind of like a duck (point outward)

While standing still, it does appear like I have flat feet or a very low arches, but when I do a WEST PAPER TEST my foot print looks exactly like "normal" ... a very defined dry spots in the middle of the print.

My feet don't point outward A LOT, just a little. They kind of point at 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock. I've done some preliminary googling and a little outtoe is normal, so I'm not extremely worried. I've seen people worse than me (like my brother... sometimes it seems like his feet point at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock) but I am curious, as I'm not a little self conscious that I walk like a frickin' duck.

Should I have any concerns running/biking or am I in the "normal" range?

I won't really worry to much about it not looking "normal".
A few years back I use to do a lot of walking, and in the winter I'd see a lot of prints that weren't straight and some that were very
The only reason I noticed the other boot/shoes prints was because I find that my feet seem to point straight, but that I wear out the outside heal of my shoes faster.

Your alignment is off. It sounds like you have a toe-out problem. How is your camber and caster? Recommend an alignment from Monro, or some other light-duty shop.

Biking shouldn't be an issue. For running, I would recommend going to a running shop and get analyzed for proper footwear.

Mine are a little more out there. Like 10 and 2. My problem was a problem at birth, my right food was at about 5 o'clock. slowly came around and I had to compensate when I learned to walk by turning me left food out to walk. Now, thats just the way it goes!

My daughter also has feet that point out. She's a dancer and it's a huge advantage.

However, she can't ski no matter how hard she tries, the skis just keep going out on her.

Thank you so much OP for that link. As a personally with completely flat feet (my entire foot marks a piece of paper, with no curve whatsoever), I really needed to see some of this.

Heh...I tried that wet paper test and all that showed up were my toes, heel, and a small strip for the side of my foot. I must have huge arches.
