When I select 'shut down' for my computer it just reboots...

I got windows xp Sp1 on my old computer, and when I'm shutting it down, I select 'shut down' from the options...except it just reboots...why
 
Sounds like it is blue screening on shutdown (hence the restart). You can verify this is the case (and also verify this is a Roxio issue) by setting Windows to not automatically restart.

As an admin:
right-click on "my computer" and select properties, go to the "advanced" tab and click on the startup and recovery "settings" button and uncheck "automatically restart"
