Rip them to OGG instead. :D

Or if you have enough space rip them to flac.

If you don't know what OGG is, it is an open-source lossy audio compression algorithm similar to Mp3 but with better quality per bit.

FLAC if you have the space, you can then transcode to lossy formats for a portable as needed without lossy-to-lossy quality drops.

Otherwise, LAME -alt-preset-extreme for 192kbps VBR is acceptable, I transcoded to that from FLAC to fill up my Zen Xtra.

Yep....actually, the human ear can't tell much diff between 128 and 192....but definitely go higher so you have less loss when you reburn down the road.
