When I remove the slaved hard drive the PC won't boot. What do I need to do to fix this problem?

I've got a Western Digital 30GB ATA 100 HD as the master. I partitioned, formatted, and installed Windows98 SE. I set the jumpers on the back of the drive for master. I install my old Western Digital 20GB ATA 66, set the jumpers for slave, boot up and everything is fine. I copy my old data (not windows stuff just data) on to my new drive. I unplug the 20GB drive from the ribbon cable and power. I reboot, the reboot is really slow, then it trys to boot from the floppy, then the two CD drives, then asks for a boot disk. It will not boot into windows. What did I do wrong?

Some drives (but not all) have different jumper settings for master than for single drive mode. You might check the settings that are listed on the drive.
