I just got a Lynksys 5 port hub, and plugged the CAT5e cable from my netgear NIC to the Hub, and the lights on the Hub dosnt come on to recognize the NIC connection..... These are my network settings

If it dosent work on a different port, try a different cable. If it still dosent work, make sure your nic is seated and working properly.

my NIC is in good, and i tried a different port, it still does it.... there isnt any special software to install the hub right? and the lights on the Hub do not come on like they are susposed to. I dont have any other cat5e cables going to any other computers yet, could that be why? or what?? i havent tried a different cable yet

my hub is a linksys etherfast 10/100 5-port workgroup hub, auto sensing. model # efah05w

are you plugging into the uplink port? Do you have a good straight thought cable?

If you cant try a different cable, take the hub back. There is no software for configuring this hub. It could have just been DOA.

no im not putting it into the uplink, and the cable is new, male/male
CAT5e cable. Im not sure if its the hub or not, all i have set up now
is the NIC in my pc, the hub, and the CAT5e cable going from my NIC to
the HUB in port one. I dont have any other pc's hooked up to the hub
yet, i dont think that has anything to do with it... any other ideas?

wait, your mouse doesn't work? i'll assume it's to get attention.

the lights for the HUB and NIC would come on if it detects the connection. it does not matter even if there is no network. as long as both senses some sort of signal, there are lights. if there is a proper connection, the lights come on as soon as the computer posts... so it has nothing to do with the OS... since there are no lights...

so, it's most likely the cable. do you have another cable? did you make that cable yourself, or did you buy it? take that cable to any computer store, and ask them to test it for you for free. they'll use a continuity tester.

Try plud the cable to the Uplink port, if the light still doesn't come on, try to find a smal switch in hub, turn it on, try uplink port again.
good luck
