i don't believe so unless they make the new chipset on btx boards but i'm pretty sure it should still be atx. i haven't heard anything of btx-FF quite yet.

and why are you calling it gay intel if you plan on getting one?

Now this is just funny, considering we can't presently buy Conroe to test on Asus motherboards

Biased much?

I'm not saying Asus won't do well, but let's wait to see the actual results.

Also, no, you shouldn't need a BTX case to run Conroe.

Why not wait for G80 or R600, instead of purchasing an R580 (R590?) re-spin.

I believe Conroe isn?t coming out until this fall. Neither is the respin of the X1900.

Every one knows AMD and Intel are in bed with each other in X86 so assuming they are of the same sex then yes we are all gay. Not that its something wrong with that...

Why was the term gay used in a negative manner here in the first place??? You could have used a more generic term like lame Intel or crappy Intel.... etc etc for synonyms.

No, its the fad with immature people to use that term very liberally as a derogatory comment. You'd have to be an idiot to think that having certain computer parts has something to do with your orientation.

I am not sure how R600 will come out before end of the year or Q1 2007. Did they already finalize DX10 specs? G80 is rumoured to have regular pixel and shader pipes and not be unified so it won't technically be DX10 compliant as it will emulate unified shader tech. But R600 might be delayed. Also it's beginning of April, if he is waiting for Conroe in July, waiting even more until September or October for R600/G80 seems like a loooooooooooong time. With R590, imagine getting X1900XT for $300! *Drools*

I was under the impression that Intel was looking to release its new core design "Conroe" in the Sept/Oct time frame, not July. Also from the rumours i had read G80 be it unified or not and also R600 had a projected release for the end of this year.

Anandtech mentioned early Q3.

Also, check out this Link

"Intel Conroe desktop CPU is expected to be released in July on a 65nm process.
Preliminary benchmarks show that a 2.66Ghz Conroe outperforms a 2.8Ghz FX-60 (Dual Core) by 15% to 40% in gaming benchmarks and 10% to 30% in Media Encoding tests."

so AM2 - June 6, 2006
Intel Late July, perhaps august. I think september/october is a late estimate.

There's nothing wrong with BTX, it?s just the thought of having to upgrade without seeing obvious benefits that pisses people off. Like the move from AGP to PCI-e, the AGP cry babies wouldn't (and some still won't) get over it.

BTX actually makes more sense, but it ultimately isn't as vital as something like PCI-e.
