Jesus... I was confused as hell as to what an "auto spy" was until someone said "autopsy". I thought it was something having to do with automatic espionage.

I wonder if you can make the people NOT pump you with chemicals to "make sure your dead" just in case your fine and or wait for a certain period of time before burying. I would want an autopsy so they could check to see my health, what ailments could have killed me had I not died from what ever etc..

I'm pretty sure all states allow you to skip embalming, though your family may have to fight for it. There are religions that would not allow it...

Depends. Religious beliefs sometimes dictate it, and often families will say no to it.
Personally, I am in agreement with you, and will probably look into the lagal crap about it one of these days. Note that embalming and cosmetic mutilation done for showing your dead body to family and friends is totally separate from autopsy stuff (and that's one thing I'm even more against).

You can foil that evil bastard mortician's intents with a simple plan.
Just make sure you die by being cast into a giant food processor.
The autopsy will be very brief (a simple eyeball onceover should do the trick) and the enbalming will likely just take a sprinkle of alum and another bump on puree.
Can I get a "Brilliant" on this?

Unfortunately that's only useful if you commit suicide. I'll make sure I go in head-first, though.

googled up that if you're to be buried with 24 hours of death, the embalming process can be skipped.

"What Is Embalming?

Embalming is the process of sanitizing and chemically treating the body of the deceased. This process reduces the presence and growth of microorganisms, retards the decomposition of the body, and restores an acceptable physical appearance.

Embalming is usually not required in cases of immediate burial or immediate cremation, and for some religious groups who bury within 24 hours of death. Most funeral homes require embalming if there is to be a public viewing, if the body is to be kept for more than 24 hours, or if the body is to be transported across state lines.

Embalming is the first step in preparation of the body for viewing. Preparation also includes shaving, hair dressing, cosmetizing, clothing, and casketing prior to viewing and services.

Any concerns you may have about the need for embalming can be discussed with your funeral director."

Damn, at first I thought this was a Songs: Ohia thread...

Blue Factory Flame
when i die put my bones in an empty street to remind me of how it used to be
don't write my name on a stone bring a Coleman lantern and a radio
Cleveland game and two fishing poles and watch with me from the shore
ghostly steel and iron ore ships coming home
where i am paralyzed by the emptiness(x4)
clearly iron age beasts you can tell by the rust and the chains
and by the oil that they bleed the crew and crows fly the skulls and bones
they fly the colors of their homes i fly the cross of the blue factory flame
stitched with heavy sulpher thread/threat
they ain't proud colors but they're true colors of my home
where i am paralyzed by the emptiness (x4)
every mile for ten thousand miles and every year for a thousand years
every night for a thousand more i hear them calling
they never say to come home (x2)
where i am paralyzed by the emptiness(x4)

If that were true, why are body's manipulated, and given a wake? Because other people DO CARE, and ARE NOT DEAD.

I thought autopsies are only done if the family asks for it or if they suspect foul play?
