I am working on a computer which when you choose to shut-down, it will not give the message that windows is shutting down, instead, it re-starts. Can anyone tell me where I can go to change any settings or what may be causing this? :)

What O.S. is it using? Also, please list the system specs including power supply wattage and brand.

I would start by reading the Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement Here it provides a patch which corrects shutdown problems including- The fast shutdown option modified by Msconfig.exe contains a code path in which the computer could reboot instead of properly shutting down or quitting to MS-DOS.
There are links to ther articles that deal with your problem if this dosen't work. Good luck and let me know how your getting on :)

Thanks for the advice. I gave the computer back after fixing the modem. I will have her update her windows and if she was offline for awhile, I bet there is a patch that she will need. Thanks :) - Shell
