I am working on a computer which when you choose to shut-down, it will not give the message that windows is shutting down, instead, it re-starts. Can anyone tell me where I can go to change any settings or what may be causing this?
It currently has the windows 98SE, and an Intel Celeron Processor with 128 mg of ram, the batterie is by enlight corporation and has input is 115v/230v 6/3a frequency is 60/50 hz maximum load is 250 watts, model number HPC-250-101 REV:C
I would start by reading the Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement Here it provides a patch which corrects shutdown problems including- The fast shutdown option modified by Msconfig.exe contains a code path in which the computer could reboot instead of properly shutting down or quitting to MS-DOS.
There are links to ther articles that deal with your problem if this dosen't work. Good luck and let me know how your getting on
Thanks for the advice. I gave the computer back after fixing the modem. I will have her update her windows and if she was offline for awhile, I bet there is a patch that she will need. Thanks - Shell
